Nostalgia at its very best!

Of the many dungeon miniatures companies out there one of my favourites is Otherworld Miniatures. Besides all their excellent fantasy figures, many based on early D&D and AD&D illustrations there is one range I love above all others…

Their Pig-faced Orcs come directly those early illustrations and they have been faithfully reproduced in a lovely little range by Otherworld. In an industry where nearly all orcs look like Games Workshop’s green-skinned, big-jawed monstrosities these stand out for their uniqueness and the smile they create on every older player’s face when they first see them.

I believe that playing D&D is all about having fun and these are exactly that. I recommend you follow the link below and wallow in the nostalgia that Otherworld’s excellent website can invoke

About Craig

For those who need to know these things: - I'll never see 50 again. - I'm tall enough to see well in crowds and fat enough to leave a wake. - I'm well married to a woman with twice my smarts, three delightful and challenging children (er-hem), and one cat overlord. - I am Welsh. - I have to work for a living, but do nothing that makes me perspire.

  1. arkiegamer says:

    Those look great! Nicely painted.

  2. Give them some more modern looking firearms or SF weaponry, and you have great minis for the Khalia aliens from the David Drake/Bill Fawcett edited series “The Fleet” (albeit, they were described in the book as ‘weasels’, one of the cover illustrations had them looking very close to warthogs).

That, or those of use who read Dave Simm’s Cerebus… I certainly love the concept better than a GW clone!
