Dead Simple 4th Edition update

Thanks to some eagle eyed players and an excellent idea I have quickly updated the core rules document with the following:

  1. You automatically succeed on an unmodified 20 and fail on an unmodified 1 (my bad). Thanks to Sean and Mark for that one.
  2. I have added the skill Manhandle which depends upon strength alone. You can use this when trying to lift, push, drag, break and do other things that require brute force alone. Thanks Mark 🙂
  3. Some time ago I changed Shrive into Firebolt, but as I didn’t change its name in most of the supplements I’ve changed it back. Thanks Sean.

A point of clarification on damage. This can reduce the Toughness skill level into a negative modifier. So if your toughness is say +2 and you take 4 points of damage you apply a modifier of -2 to your skill roll. Thanks Mark.

About Craig

For those who need to know these things: - I'll never see 50 again. - I'm tall enough to see well in crowds and fat enough to leave a wake. - I'm well married to a woman with twice my smarts, three delightful and challenging children (er-hem), and one cat overlord. - I am Welsh. - I have to work for a living, but do nothing that makes me perspire.

  1. Sean Jensen says:

Craig, Thank you once again. Your rules system is great, and we are looking forward to seeing them carry over to your other wonderful games.

  2. Jon says:

I was thinking, since Attributes’ effect on skill scores has been halved, shouldn’t the cost of improving them be reduced also?

  3. Craig says:

Hi Jon, an interesting point, but as improving an attribute can also improve several aptitudes I think not. I am also looking into a new system for improving adventurers, more on which later… 😉
